Next and perhaps next to the last installment of my Distortion series.
I was doing a little recon yesterday for another one of the shots in a series I'm working on and took a few minutes to take some quick portraits of my host Amy. A delightful woman with an adorable dog. Amy will be making an appearance in the new set I'm sure.
My portrait of poet Michael Broder for POZ, taken a couple of months ago at Bedford Hill cafe in Brooklyn. Michael has been working on a year-long project publishing an HIV inspired poem of the day until June 5, the 35th anniversary of the CDC's first paper on AIDS.
I had an Irving Penn hankering today. So I pulled out the mottled backdrop and stuck it next to a big window. Then popped in some black and white action, and a square format. Luckily my buddy Jamie Effros stopped by or else you'd just see a bunch of blank grey frames.
Once again, my buddy Emma drops by for some pictures. Played around with shooting from above, some ring light fill with beauty dish, and then just some reflector and sun on the roof. Here's the take from a couple of hours of snapping.
