8x10 Portrait Experiment
Above is a picture of me taking a picture of my friend Kelly Hubert using my 4x5" camera. I would have used a picture of me taking a picture of my friend Kelly Hubert with an 8x10" camera, but no such picture exists. Mostly because I've never used one. Until now. Or rather, until a week from Saturday.
On Saturday February the 8th, starting at noon, my friend Alex Erisoty and I are going to pull his big cameras out of the closet at his studio in Manhattan for an afternoon of fun. Specifically, we've each bought a box of black & white 8x10" film and are going to take some portraits. Just imagine a negative the size of a standard headshot.
To do that, we're going to need a few things. First are some subjects, that's where you come in. If you'd like to have the rare opportunity to get your picture taken with a lens that is older than Dick Cheney, now's your chance. We need about 15-20 people. If you're interested, send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your contact info, a recent photo, and any random information that might make you an interesting subject. Put '8x10' in the subject line. We'll make selections at the beginning of next week.
We'd also love to get someone to help us with make-up and hair. As it's costing us an arm an a leg just to get the film and processing done, this gig would be a labor of love. Could be great stuff for your portfolio though and a whole lot of fun.
